will have two new works premiered by Sirius Chamber Ensemble at the beautiful and historic Christ Church, cnr Lavender St and Walker St Lavender Bay on Friday, June 23 at 6pm – Opal Wings II for clarinet, violin, cello and piano and a new song cycle setting the texts of the award winning Australian poet Mark Tredinnick. Alan loves setting Mark’s poems and says he finds the lyricism and rhythm in Mark’s poems to be music in its own way – ‘wordmusic’.
Also on the program is the Australian premiere of Frano Parac’s thrilling and colourful Quartet for clarinet, violin, cello and piano. Parac is one of Croatia’s leading composers with a major European reputation. And to round out the concert, the perennial favourite, Chants d’Auvergne by Canteloube.
There is a great relationship now with Alan and Sirius Chamber Ensemble as they presented four works in a concert for his 60th birthday and have performed his trio Edward Harvey Portrait and his clarinet solo the birds will sing them off numerous times.
Performers: Taryn Srhoj (soprano), Ian Sykes (clarinet), Vanessa Tammetta (violin), Clare Kahn (cello), Claire Howard Race (piano).
